Indian Caves travel adventure

On June 30th, 2022, I went to Indian Caves in Bourbonnais, IL, just above an hour from Chicago, IL. When I first arrived at the spot it wasn't what it seemed like from the google search that I did. The directions take you down into a residential area that spiral into what they call, "Cavalier Park" At first, I thought that I was sent off and was directed into the wrong direction, but you know, keep a positive mind and you will reap positive results. So, I traded my traditional sandals and put on my Nikes that I used to work in at my old warehouse job. When I arrived at the cave entrance, I was welcomed with a huge pool of water right in front of the cave. Water way too deep for me to hike in wearing my shoes. So, I took my shoes off but before I headed off into the water, I saw two young kids searching the waters with a catcher's net looking to find snakes that they caught just the day before. Now that you are forewarned you are now forearmed. But, through my travels I did not run into any snakes. Mostly just strangely large red spiders. They were cool though. I didn't bother them, and they didn't bother me.

So, I went barefoot into the water leaving my shoes right at the entrance right before where the water started. At first, you start to wonder is this all there is. Well, no that's not the case because as you begin to follow the water into this cave you start to realize that there is more and more rocks and curves to explore. I found myself sitting inside of a small open cave with trash littered around the corner, but that's to be expected because of how nice of a chill spot it actually is.  As I'm discovering all of this, I am starting to second guess leaving my shoes behind. I kept going regardless, barefoot. More and more I began to see that these caves transform into a very rewarding forest preserve. Some of the notable experiences on this experience is the dead tree that is sitting over a small riverbank maybe 20ft in the air. It takes nerves of steel to stand atop of that tree. It was frightening at first, but soon that fear releases as you find your footing and continue on. Also, on my trip here I found a bee enclosure, albeit on private property, my rebellious nature inclined me to try and snatch me a fresh honeycomb. I opened the wooden top of the enclosure and bees started to climb out and buzz around me, but if you know anything about bees, it's that as long as you don't harm the queen, they are virtually harmless unless you attack them, I think. After i removed the top there was a wooden top that seemed to be pried onto the box and there was no simple way to remove it. I left the box alone. Surprisingly, I thought Bourbonnais would be a predominately white neighborhood, but I was greeted with multiple black people. Overall, this was a rewarding experience.
